Friday Night Jazz at LACMA

I love jazz and have been going to the best concerts in town for twenty years, sitting in the front row—-free of charge—-every Friday night. Last Friday night I heard the Peter Erskine Quartet…. Supurb LA musicians: Alan Pasqua- piano, Derek Oles, bass, Peter Erskine, drums and Bob Shepard on sax played some standards like “Somewhere” from Westside Story as well as original pieces. Jazz at it’s best where you can bring your own food and wine or purchase some right there…audience is eclectic and friendly and thrilled to hear such great jazz every week. You can find me in the front row….. every Friday at 6.

Opening Night at the Fountain Theater

Last night I attended the opening of Train Driver at the Fountain Theater. It is a play written by Athol Fugard, a South African playright who happens to be a favorite of mine. The Fountain Theater is also a top pic for me, so I was anticipating a wonderful evening. Morlan Higgins and Adolphus Ward created unforgettable performances, which took place in a graveyard of Shukuma, a squatter camp on the outskirts of Motherwell, near Port Elizabethm South Africa in January, 2001. The set, music and acting were unforgettable. I sat next to the woman responsible music and accents and my chat with her added to the fun. Since it was opening night there was a small party after the play, where we were able to meet the actors and others responsible for this awesome production. I love small theater and I loved last night.
